The Masterworks Chorale is proud to present it's 20th season of choral masterworks
concerts. The Chorale has grown from 65 adventurous volunteer singers on its first concert (October 1990),
to its present membership of nearly 80 voices. These men and women representing many diverse
backgrounds, cultures, races and beliefs are brought together by their love of the choral art and by
their years of dedication to musical interpretation, sight reading, foreign language study, precision
of vocal articulation and diction – and the sheer joy and pleasure found in bringing to sound masterworks
from across the centuries and from all over the world.
In the past twenty years, the Chorale has performed numerous masterworks at such varied local venues as the
Akron Civic Theatre, Arlington Church of God, E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, Goodyear Theater,
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, St. Bernard Catholic Church and St. John Cathedral in Cleveland.
They have also appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York City and, in June 2005 joined with the Beijing
Central Conservatory of Music Chorale and Tianjin Orchestra in a historic performance of Bach’s B
Minor Mass to a capacity crowd in Beijing’s infamous Forbidden City Concert Hall conducted by artistic
director, Dr. Frank C. Jacobs. This multi-generational chorale is composed of singers from throughout
the greater Akron area and many surrounding communities (encompassing five counties). They would welcome
inquiries about auditions for membership at any time to 330-434-7464. Visit our website at
